Teaser Tuesday

Another snip from my work Interior of a Heart. Quinn snuck out when her father told her not to leave the house.

*Removed snip*

Whoa, I love the voice in this! I remember reading a bit of the beginning during your MFA writing program thingy.

And I love how varied the sentences are.

    Fantastic snip!

That last line definitely hit home, but my favorite was the “the peas have smushed into the rice like green snow on white grass.” LOVE <3

Hooray! I’m glad you teased. Love the juxtaposition between the two types of silences, they’re both evoked just right. Two bits I love: the whistling torpedo silences and the “I am the one he slices” line.

“Whole towns are destroyed in my father’s silences.”

I LOVE this line. So powerful and amazing. I love how quiet this snip is. It has the right tone, the right feel to it, if that makes any sense.

    Wow.

“And wonder how he’s missed that I’ve been a vegetarian for over a year.”

In one sentence you’ve managed to shatter my heart. Incredible.

FANTASTIC. This was so well executed and the last line was an absolute home run. Nice, nice, nice!!

The steak cutting analogy is awesome. Great snip!

As others have said, the voice in this is fantastic. I’d definitely keep reading!
